Graphics & Publishing

These courses fall into the category of creative design. Each class provides expertise to accomplish a specific design purpose, and you will want to take the course that best fits your area of concern. The following class capabilities overlap and some work together to accomplish a specific purpose.

  • Adobe Photoshop
    This is primarily a photo touchup tool, but can be used to create initial artwork. Using the drawing tools, you can adjust the color shading, brightness, shadows, filter the effects of the overall look, and touchup flaws in a photo.
  • Adobe InDesign
    This is used to develop precision artwork, brochures, fliers, etc. Most print shops use this program to adjust the layout of artwork.
  • Adobe Illustrator
    This is a drawing design application used to illustrate an idea, develop a graphical process, or specify the exact dimensions of a drawing.
  • Microsoft Publisher
    This could be used to develop documentation that combines text and graphics to produce a book, brochure, or flyer.
  • Microsoft Visio
    This is designed to create flowcharts, organizational charts, network diagrams, and floor plans. The intelligent libraries and properties will interface with a database to collect and gather parts lists defined in Visio drawings.
